About the Foundation
We are a Bhutanese foundation devoted to the children the world too easily overlooks — and to raising them into adults who live with dignity, wisdom, and purpose.
How we began
The Light of Compassion Foundation was founded in [year] by [founder name(s)], who saw children in [place] growing up without the care and schooling every young life deserves — and could not look away.
What began as [the first act: sponsoring a few children / opening a small home / supporting a monastic school] grew into a foundation with a single, steady purpose: to make sure that no child in our care goes without shelter, learning, love, or hope.
Today, that work continues — quietly, patiently, one child at a time.
Mission & vision
Our mission — To empower vulnerable children and young monastics through compassionate care, quality education, love, and hope — enabling them to live with dignity, wisdom, purpose, and compassion.
Our vision — A Bhutan where every child, whatever their beginning, grows up cared for, capable, and certain of their own worth.

Vulnerable children — children who have lost the support of family, or whose families cannot meet their most basic needs. We offer them a safe home, an education, healthcare, and the steady presence of people who believe in them.
Young monastics — children who have entered monastic life carry deep devotion but often arrive with very little. We support their daily needs and their learning, so that a life of the spirit is never limited by a lack of the essentials.
We serve both with the same conviction: that every child deserves to be nourished in body, mind, and heart.
Our values
We lead with kindness — for the children, their families, and one another. It is the reason we exist and the way we work.
We never speak of the children as problems to be solved. They are young people with names, gifts, and futures. We protect their privacy and their pride.
We care for today and prepare for tomorrow — giving children the learning and character to one day carry themselves, and others.
Our work grows from Bhutanese values: community, respect for the spiritual, and the belief that a society is judged by how it treats its most vulnerable.
We are careful stewards of every gift entrusted to us, and we are honest about our work — its progress and its limits.
We keep our circle of care small enough to know every child by name. We work alongside families, schools, monastic institutions, and local communities rather than apart from them. And we plan for the long term — because raising a child is not a project with an end date, but a promise kept over years.
In Bhutan, we light butter lamps not to push back the dark for ourselves, but so the next person can see their way. That is how we understand our work: to tend each child’s light until it is strong enough to guide others.
However you choose to help, you become part of a child’s story of care.
