The Light of Compassion Foundation cares for Bhutan’s vulnerable children and young monastics — raising them with shelter, education, and the dignity every young life deserves.
Why we exist
Some children in Bhutan grow up without the one thing every child should be able to count on — a steady hand to hold. Others enter monastic life young, carrying great devotion but few resources. Both deserve more than survival. They deserve to be seen, taught, nourished, and loved.
We exist to hold these children — and to raise them not only with a roof and a meal, but with wisdom, purpose, and the confidence to stand on their own one day.
How we care

A safe home, nourishing food, healthcare, and steady emotional support. Before a child can learn or grow, they need to feel they belong. That is where we begin.

Schooling, learning materials, and mentorship — so every child can discover what they are capable of, and carry a skill and a future beyond our doors.

For young monastics, we provide the essentials of monastic life — lodging, robes, texts, health, and education — so their path of devotion is never cut short by need.
Every contribution becomes something a child can hold: a warm bed, a school uniform, a meal shared with others, a hand to guide them through a hard day. We measure our work not in numbers alone, but in children who grow up feeling that the world made room for them.
Our care in numbers
We will only ever share figures we can stand behind. Numbers appear here once they are confirmed.

Volunteer with us
Schools, businesses, and organisations can walk with us on a shared project or a long-term commitment.
Become a partnerWe are a Bhutanese foundation, run by people who know these children and this land.
We publish where our support goes, because trust is something we owe our donors and our children alike.
Our work is grounded in the Bhutanese value of caring for one another — the belief that a nation’s wealth is measured by the wellbeing of its most vulnerable.
A gift today becomes a warm meal, a school day, a reason to hope.
